One Day Getaway to East Hampton

The Hamptons. A New Yorker’s staple for escaping the city on summer weekends. But, who says you have to go for the entire weekend? Why can’t you just escape for the day? Oh yes, you heard me correctly…

Luckily, my friend Tom was recently visiting the city, and shares similar spontaneous qualities as I do…he was up for the one day challenge! We decided to borrow his brother’s car, wake up at 5am, and drive out to the island. Trying to make a 10am SoulCycle class, we timed the two hour drive perfectly. So much that we got to stop at Hamptons Coffee on the way for coffee and pastries…try their pistachio muffin! {If you don’t have a car just rent one – it’s so easy!}

We were completely relaxed, caffeinated, and ready to rock it out in MB’s hardcore SoulCycle class by the time we got there. If you haven’t heard, SoulCycle just opened their East Hampton studio. It looks stunning and is conveniently located right off the main street of shopping!

After getting a good morning sweat, we strolled over to Babette’s for a huge brunch. It was just delicious, and definitely worth the wait!

One of the best parts about going out to the Hamptons is the shopping. Besides browsing the fashions, my favorite place has always been The Monogram Shop!

The store designs are uniquely fashionable and fit in perfect with the scene out East. Toms favorite was John Varvatos, but we both agreed the James Perse store had an incredible store layout!

We drove over to Sag Harbor after shopping, and it literally took my breath away. Beautiful water with boats floating. It was so calm and beautiful with the sunset winding down. Much more low-key in comparison to East Hampton, which is ironic since they are five minutes away from each other!

We covered the island, and decided to head back in time for dinner, but looking back I can’t believe getting out of the city for one day relaxed me so much! Seeing grass, trees, and a new atmosphere gave me a great breath of fresh air.

New York provides you with so many easy getaway opportunities. Take advantage, get out of the city even it’s just for one day, and enjoy every moment! Also, if you do want to stay a few nights I saw some cute boutique inns {list below} that were located near the main strip of East Hampton or close to where the Jitney drops off!

Summer fun to you!
