What’s In Your Closet?

Everyone wants a closet like Carrie’s…

Do you consistently say…“I have nothing to wear!” like me? Well, I officially decided to take the bull by the horns this past weekend, and change the little part of my day that was causing mucho stress. My first plan of action? Google. I typed in “organizing my closet” into the search engine. But then, I realized it wasn’t exactly the organization of my closet that was the issue {my closet is very tidy and my clothes are hung up according to their category…skirts, dresses, jackets, etc}. So, I decided to snap the problem from a different angle. My digital camera.

I began sorting through all of my clothes, deciding which ones I actually did wear or packed up the ones that I did not for charity or to tuck away until the Fall. Then I decided I needed to separate day / work clothes from the night / going out pieces. Then, I began to snap away via using the lock on our front door…simple and easy!

Once all of my clothes had been shot, I categorized them into their section of day or night, then tucked them away into their proper set of dresses, skirts, etc. Now it was time to upload!

One of my all-time favorite programs from Apple is iPhoto. Not only for editing pictures, but for sorting pictures and maintaining efficiency with my organization for Bonjour + Hola stories, etc. I made a new folder labeled “closet.” Then I separated all of the pieces into their category, and dragged all of the folders to my desktop. Now I have an easy and accessible way to my closet.

Now I’m ready for a stress-free day in my Ports 1961 dress!

From one click of a button, I have full access of everything in my closet without getting out of my computer chair. There are a ton of iPhone apps similar to this strategy, but I find it easy to have it right on my desktop so I can print out outfits I’m considering to wear, or email to my friends to ask for their opinion. What a successful weekend day, and a stress-free start to the week!
