Brunchin’ Hola Style

Buttermilk pancakes with scrambled cheese eggs and a side of sausage? Yep, that’s my idea of a traditional kind of brunch! But when I heard that my new favorite Spanish haunt, Tertulia, had reinvented the way New York does brunch a la “tapas style”, I decided to hola on over!

And this ain’t no yolk, y’all! Not only does this tiny West Village spot have dishes to fulfill your taste buds, it has enough hip options for a huge group to shake their sombreros {I went with eight!}. After snuggling into a vintage wooden booth in the back next to a roaring, chimney-style oven, we all felt like we had woken up on an exotic vacay in the Basque Country of Spain!

My faves?

Coles De Bruselas {crispy brussels sprouts, pork belly, mojo picón}

Revuelto de Gambas {soft scramble of ruby red shrimp, crème fraîche, herbs on brioche}

Pan Con Tomate {toasted bread rubbed with tomato topped with jamón serrano 18-month cured serrano ham}

Desayuno Tertulia {two fried eggs, house-made face bacon, potato nests, seasonal vegetables}

Croquetas de Jamón Ibérico {ham croquettes}

Huevo y Cordero {lamb ragout, soft polenta, poached egg, tosta de queso de oveja}

Nuestras Patatas {crispy fried potatoes, pimentón de la vera}

Churros Con Chocolate {churros and dark chocolate}

Instead of heading towards your traditional spot for brunch, mix it up a little bit and try something new! Tertulia has been the touted all over NYC {its on Adam Platt’s 2011 Top 10 Restaurant List and Bloomberg’s #1} as THE restaurant to try and all the hype is spot-on!

He’s caramelizing sugar for the Torrija Caramelizada {french toast!}

Between the flavors, the people and the scene, you won’t regret taking your brunch to a bigger and better hola style!
