It’s a total “Oh My” Experience at Neue Galerie

Being a fan of all things Upper East Side, historical, and artistic, Neue Galerie was an instant fit for this señorita. But when I heard their newest exhibit was featuring Kandinsky, it was a must to go there immediately. Why? Oh, hunny. From the moment I saw Vasily Kandinsky featured in one of my all-time favorite movies, Double Jeopardy, I was an instant fan! Not only is his work filled with dramatic adjectives of color and line, but I love how you really have to think about the stories expressed in each piece. Hola!

neue galerie {“new gallery” in german}

And trust me, this exhibit does not disappoint. But, I would suggest getting there an hour early to not only take in the entire experience, but to indulge at what else the Neue Galerie has to offer behind its historic doors. I loved going straight to their fabulous cafe called Café Sabarsky on the first floor, which draws inspiration from the great Viennese cafés that served as important centers of intellectual and artistic life at the turn of the century. I was all over this place and felt like I was not only in another era, but visiting another country as well. My faves at this café? That would be their Lachsfilet mit Mais und Zucchini, Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut & Rösterdäpfel, and Mühlviertler Wurstknödel auf Sauerkraut, of course. And once you’ve indulged to the nines, make your way up their glorious staircase {or two}, and enter into a one of a kind + phenomenal gallery!

Whether you’re a huge Vasily Kandisky fan and want to be surrounded by his work for an entire afternoon or just want to prance up to the UES for a polished historical experience, check out the Kandinsky exhibit at the Neue Galerie this weekend. It’s a total “oh my” experience! Happy Weekend! B+H
