A Raw Room

There’s something intriguing about the Ace Hotel

Maybe it’s the dark, phantom-like lobby…or maybe it’s the pigs who have bombarded the dark Breslin walls to whom you glance in between bites of the juiciest burger…maybe it’s just the hipster crowd that frequently flocks there for their Stumptown Coffee fix? One will never know…but now, there’s another new reason to visit…

It’s called The John Dory Oyster Bar. Open almost 24 hours! Well, until 4am, which pretty much satisfies any craving for shellfish or a ton of oysters after a long night of dancing and flirting galore. I just love going here…lunch, dinner, you name it. Relaxing on the old-school bar stools, sipping a glass of Riesling on tap, staring impatiently at other’s food as you wait for the next open table…No reservations are taken, but believe me, after your first bite of April Bloomfield’s {aka Spotted Pig} kitchen creation you will understand why people don’t complain about the wait. You don’t come for the scene, you come for the food.

My favorites?:

Parker House Rolls

Cold poached lobster with tomalley vinaigrette

Sockeye salmon with market squash, yogurt and basil

Lobster Roll

If you’re in limbo about where to dine next in the city, then try John Dory’s. It’s rare to find a hot spot where the food is elegant yet so confidently delicious!
