“Bog in, mate!”

Hallejuah! After a weekend of no power in New Jersey this past weekend, Bonjour + Hola is back in action and Irene has officially blown away. Starting this gorgeous week off with one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the West Village seemed to be a perfect fit. I’ve mentioned Kingswood in a few posts in the past, but I cannot believe that I have never done an actual feature on how fabulous the restaurant is in general. What makes this place different from other restaurants is not only that the staff is all from Australia, but that the place serves eclectic flavored foods, which taste surreal blended with the cool accents walking around the room….and on top of that the whole place turns into a hip scene after 10pm…Well y’all, I’d say we have ourselves a winner!

Kingswood in the West Village

If you have never been to Kingswood, do yourself a favor and go. This week. This weekend. It’s always packed, mostly with regulars. Even if you just go hang out at the bar you will see why it’s popular. My friends and I hit this place up at least once a week, and although we usually get the same thing every time, we decided recently to take a deep breath and try to add a few new dishes into our regular routine.

Our favorites?:

Grilled Asparagus with 16 month aged prosciutto, egg, olive oil

Fried Green Tomato with fresh mozzarella, pine nuts, sea salt, basil oil

Crispy Confit Duck Leg with sweet corn succotash, red chili, bacon, fried egg

Herb-Roasted Cornish Hen served with hazelnut and pecorino spaetzle

Goan Curry with Monkfish served with cucumber raita, cardamom scented rice

Homemade Ice Cream

Vanilla Sugar Doughnuts with white chocolate and espresso cream

The Aussies cook it right. Kingswood right.
