Shape to the Plate

My yoga mat…Smart WaterFrederic Fekkai hairspray….Champagne glasses. These are some of my absolute favorite things I use on a daily basis (well, maybe not the Champagne glasses! ha!), and they all have one detail in common: they’re all tall and cylinder shaped. My obvious attraction to all things tall carries over to my favorite Italian salad when I’m out for dinner….a tall, fresh Caprese Salad. I was recently trying to get creative in the kitchen, and thought how easy it would be to duplicate my go-to salad and bring a tall stack to my own dinner table. Fabulous results and with the year round availability of great tomatoes, each bite makes me feel like summer is still indeed alive!

It’s so easy to make! Begin by chopping up tomatoes and slicing creamy Mozzarella {all from Eataly}.

I got these cute yellow tomatoes to accent the colors on my plate!

Start stacking with a tomato slice as a base, followed by Mozzarella, and so forth! Drizzle a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the top of the final stack {it will flow down the sides beautifully} and a little bit on the actual plate for decoration. Top it off with the sliced yellow tomatoes, and voila! Your guests will question whether or not you’ve been attending culinary school after work!

Tall, rich and thin…..you can’t ask for anything more!
