Leave it to Course Horse!

Ever feel the urge to learn something new in the city, but have no clue as to who to contact or where to go? I mean, there are so many opportunities here! It would take forever to create your own list from each company, their classes and the total costs. So when I came across a new company called Course Horse, which acts as a coordinator between you and eclectic classes in action across town, my blood pressure dropped significantly! I let them do the work {for free!} and it landed me into one of the most interesting classes called A Sparkling Combination: Moët Champagne and Artisanal Cheese!

Created by two NYU alums, Katie Kapler and Nihal Parthasarthi, Course Horse provides an easy and innovative way to search for classes of any kind! Want to learn more about wine? Click here! Want to learn more about cheese? Click here? Yoga? Click here! With 10 categories followed by multiple subcategories, the options are endless with Course Horse! All you have to do is enter when and what time you desire to learn. These classes work around you and your lifestyle!

Not knowing a soul stepping into this building, I was a bit hesitant. But since the class provided a happy Moët hour for all of us {around 20 people!}, we soon became the best of buds! And that was just the beginning…

Once we got settled into the classroom {I marched right on up to the front row!}, we each had 5 different types of champagne and 7 different types of Artisanal cheeses in front of us! Hola.

The Moët representative began the class with showing us how to properly pop the bottle. I was all ears! With just six twists {holding the bottle at a 45 degree angle} the job is done. Did you know that the cork pops out at 65 mph? Y’all better watch out next time I try to ouvre la champagne!

We were given a simple chart to all fill out at the same time. Going clockwise with our cheeses, we would each grab one champagne at a time and rate the taste of it with each cheese. There were some foul mixtures and some jaw dropping combos, but it was interesting to hear the reactions of peers around me too! Now I know which cheeses to serve at future cocktail parties for the majority to love!

The Artisinal cheese rep explained that one of the reasons he loved this class was for us to take what we learned here and either conduct our own class for our friends at home or show off our newly found pairing skills to our pals! Ps did y’all know cheese helps you lose weight? Still can’t tell if the man was fibbing me or not…

I was one happy camper after drinking these delicious champagnes and tasteful cheeses…it was hard to finish all of it! My favorite pairings?

Nettle Meadow Kunik cheese and Ruinart Brut Rose & Nancy’s Hudson Valley Camembert cheese and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Demi-Sec!

If it wasn’t for Course Horse, this fantastic opportunity wouldn’t have been possible! Filled with innovation, variety and an easy to use website, Course Horse has it all! What’s next for me to learn? I’ll leave it to Course Horse!
