Climb Into An Orchard Of A Season

climbing for apples

With Halloween being just around the riverbend, I couldn’t believe apple/pumpkin picking was still not checked off of my Fall 2013 Bucket List! Obviously, it was a must to find the perfect orchard near NYC that a. was close to a train station and b. had both apples, pumpkins + munchies galore. And after reading tons of reviews, I landed on an orchard right in Croton Falls called Outhouse Orchards, which is just an hour train ride away from the city. So perfect for us city slickers with no vehicles! Hola.

We woke up early on Sunday morning, met at Grand Central with Organic Avenue snacks at hand, and boarded an impromptu train towards Westchester. Not only was the ride scenic, it was so quiet + refreshing to just get out of the city on a gorgeous day and catch up with those I love most!

When we arrived in North Salem, we got off the train and looked around to figure out where to go, and luckily a line of cabs was patiently waiting! It was so easy and only $5 to take us to the orchard nearby. Bonjour!

Filled with all things refreshing + crisp + clear, the three señoritas pulling up to Outhouse were grinning all smiles and ready for a day of orchard fun!

And although I don’t think the area quite knew who was arriving that day, me + Ryan + Jenna decided to live up each activity offered. Literally! Why not?

Our orchard faves? And yes, we also ventured across the street to Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard as well!

After we had flat worn ourselves out with the pickin’ + mazin’, we decided to head back to the main area of Outhouse Orchards. It’s filled with all things yummy + delicious, and since we had barely had anything to eat that afternoon we decided to go for it! The place definitely doesn’t let you leave with an empty tummy.

Whether you’re looking for a fun out of the city day with your friends or just want to take advantage of one of the last opportunities this season to snag some apples + pumpkins before the Day of the Dead {aka Halloween} arrival, check out Outhouse Orchards. It’s an easy place to climb into an orchard of a season! B+H
