Tonya’s original dream was to be a true artist, like an actual painter, and through that she landed herself a spot at The Royal Academy of Art. But with no job or work visa and purchasing expensive art supplies, it was important for Crooks to bring in money {and quick!} to stay abroad! This is truly how her empire began.
One of her friends volunteered her for a makeup artist job, which was a bit intimidating at first with not having previous experience. Her friend explained to her that she absolutely did – makeup is incredibly similar to painting: shading and shadowing, mixing rich colors…and she was right, the face is like a 3D canvas! Bonjour. Tonya loves a good challenge and was not about to go home. She nailed the first job and that’s officially where her makeup career escalated!

Crooks moved back to the States post school, continued to do makeup, and started to study photos from shoots like if she was studying a drawing. She started to pick apart various details, and realized the balance + symmetry of the faces weren’t lining up. Tonya tried to find a solution. It turned out to be the shape of the eyebrows that was throwing off the alignment. She decided to recreate the structure of the brows before even putting makeup on the models, and finding out what the exact perfect shape of the person’s face was based on the natural blueprint. Tonya quickly became known as The Browgal in the industry.

For ten years, she was using products from all over the world on her celebrity clients, but none were satisfying. So she decided to take it to the next level. After three years of sourcing and perfecting colors, she came out with her own skew line. The company just kept growing from there! Best part?
