This fall will mark Glenda Bailey’s tenth anniversary as editor-in-chief at Harper’s Bazaar. So exciting! With the occasion approaching, it was appropriate for her to create a large coffee-table book filled with her favorite shoots from the last decade. I was thrilled to attend an intimate cocktail party this week honoring the debut Harper’s Bazaar: Greatest Hits with the one and only, Glenda Bailey.
Presented by American Express, the event included a reception of champagne and hors d’oeuvres, a conversational interview with Glenda about her most memorable editorial moments, and a formal book signing! It was such a fabulous evening to take in the history and stories behind the glamorous photo shoots. Although, my favorite part was taking home Harper’s Bazaar: Greatest hits! It goes just perfectly on my coffee table…

I love this shot. Here is Linda Evangelista dancing with Karl Lagerfeld {this was taken in Karl’s home!}, while the well-known photographer, Jean-Paul Goude {second from the right}, and Stephen Gal {far right} participate in the celebration.
This shot of Kate Winslet was photographed by Peter Lindbergh. Glenda said that they originally were going to remove the construction on top of the roof, but decided it was appropriate to create the “take your breath away” picture. It’s stunning!
Jean-Paul Goude not only receives credit for his amazing photography abilities, but some also believe he pretty much invented Photoshop. He shot Naomi Campbell in his studio in Paris and the animals in Africa…separately! Then he combined the shots together to create this amazing image.
Harper’s Bazaar is one of my absolute favorite magazines {not only because it was where I landed my first fashion internship way back when!}, but because every page is well-crafted and just exquisite. As Glenda said that night, “Harper’s Bazaar is timely…yet timeless.” I couldn’t agree with her more.
