Do Not Eat The Bread

Before you cross over the Williamsburg Bridge and lean right around the corner to approach the well-known Peter Luger restaurant, I highly suggest to not eat a thing at least three hours before.

Unfortunately, I made that mistake by lunching on a white truffled sausage uptown a few hours prior. I also made a boo boo by downing the onion coated bread before the vintage looking menus arrived…Oops.

I gave myself a break! It was my first time at the old guard steakhouse, and as much as I wanted to blame myself for eating too much bread before ordering, I turned to my parents who kindly took me out here for dinner and said, “You know what? This really isn’t fair. They just shouldn’t make the bread this good at Peter Luger!” That mentality was carried throughout the entire evening…there just wasn’t one dish that we didn’t find comforting to its extinction.

Peter Luger Steak House Sauce…once you try it there is turning back!

Perfect to bring your parents or to please the buff man in your life, Peter Luger {which is celebrating their 125th year!}, has got a menu filled of comforting flavors! When you walk in, any diet needs to be thrown on the window – you must try it all. People have been quoted to say that this place was “the best meal of their life!” Well, I’m not quite sure about that, but it was delicious!

Our favorites?:

We started with a thick smokey bacon that fit with the tomatoes and onions appetizer just like PB & J when drizzled with Peter Luger’s Special Sauce! I was hesitant about the bacon in the beginning, but once I took my first crispy bite into it there was no turning back.

The bacon was followed by this huge slap of Salmon, which was nice to mix up such heavy dishes on the table!

We moved onto my favorite dish, which comes in a variety of portion sizes…their steak! After they placed this barracuda onto the table, our decision of ordering the portion for two was perfect.

The onion rings and fried potatoes were a no brainer…they’re always fabulous with a juicy steak! The creamed spinach was also a delicious choice to add some greens into the mix.

Officially stuffed, I took three deeps breaths and was promptly handed the dessert menu. Hola.

Once I glanced at there famous ice cream sundae {ice cream is guilty pleasure in life}, I couldn’t help but order it…I mean, it’s famous right? I’m so glad I did!!

With our waiter, Ion!

Peter Luger….y’all know what’s up.
