Don’t let the East Village fool you…it’s not only made up of the most fashionable hipsters. It also houses some of the top restaurants in the city. Recently, my friend, Ryan, and I decided to try a place we had heard about called Beauty & Essex.
I was a a bit hesitant in the beginning, mostly because it’s located behind a pawn shop, but I was pleasantly surprised, and full, by the time I strutted out of the place.
When you walk in you are mesmerized by dark lighting, beautiful people, and a vibrant bar scene {two bars are located within the restaurant}. Usually when you go to ‘of the moment’ restaurants, the food can be far from superb, but Beauty & Essex flat has it down.
Not only is there an area for girls to chill in the bathroom {in case your date is just…not}, but it’s topped with a private bar for girls to get an endless {and free might I add!} glasses of champagne.
The back of the restaurant even has a private space for larger parties, secluded from the main crowd with a dark curtain. We were both crazy about not only the menu options but by the delicious flavors placed in front of us.
There are too many foods to name that we enjoyed that evening, but our absolute favorites were hands down:
-Oven Braised Chicken Meatballs
-Lobster Tacos
-Spaghettini
We finished our meal ready to take on the night. Beauty & Essex is also a fabulous place to meet for drinks before going out…girls, don’t forget that free champagne downstairs! Glamorous.
