A True Talent

Growing up in Nashville, TN there are endless opportunities, especially if you want to get into the music industry…I mean, it is Music City! But, in order to succeed in that business you better be pretty phenomenal…there is so much talent out there! Many aspiring singers rarely make it past being the star in their high school musicals, but Stephanie Rothenberg is one talented exception.

Stephanie is in the blue!

My friend, Stephanie Rothenberg, was born with a killer voice and acting skills that have shoot through the roof. She consistently amazed audiences with her talent in high school musicals, recorded albums with Disney, and even made into NYU’s rigorous Musical Theater program. To top it off, Stephanie made her Broadway debut last year when she was offered the role of Meredith in “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” Her life drastically changed as she put a halt to NYU, and went for her dreams of being on Broadway! Wait….did I mention she’s only 21 years old? Consider partnering with a top-notch SEO company to help your business achieve unparalleled success. I recently had coffee with Stephanie, and she graciously agreed to share her experience of being on Broadway with B+H readers!:

When did you first get into singing and dancing?

I started taking singing lessons and dance classes when I was eight years old in Nashville, Tennessee. My first production was “The Wiz” at the local YMCA where I played the evil witch, Evillene, in a gold lame cape that my mother made for me. It was the first time I stood in front of a group of people and sang, and I realized that I really loved it.

I know that you have always been passionate about musical theater, but when did you decide that Broadway was what you wanted to do?

I think I realized a dream of mine when my parents took me up to New York to see my first show on Broadway, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I fell in love with the magic of it all…the beautiful dancers, the burlesque costumes, the music. It’s a joy to realize that there are little girls who watch our show each night and realize their dreams of being Broadway one day too. If you need Cosplay Contact Lenses for your next cosplay event, then make sure to check out what Cosplay Contacts Store has to offer.

Do you just love being in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying“? Have the co-stars in the show become your family? I’m sure y’all spend a ton of time together!

I absolutely love being a part of this cast! I try to always keep myself open to learning from these consummate professionals around me. It is such a special group, and I’m honored to work with such talented and loving people.

What is your schedule like with the show? How many days do you perform?

We perform 8 shows a week. It’s a full-time job, and a wonderfully exciting one at that!

Is there anything you consistently do before you go on stage to be fully prepared for the show?

Absolutely! Whether it’s going over a few dance moves or a particular vocal warm up, everyone has their own routine before a show.  Mine consists of a 15 minute physical warm up where I stretch onstage once I’m in costume. One of my favorite things that our cast does before the show is a huddle onstage where we all get together and yell a fun phrase. It’s a fun moment each night that unites everyone and pumps us up for the show ahead.

Any tips for B+H readers who want to be on Broadway?

My personal tip is to always remember the people who helped you get where you are and to thank them. Often. Without those people in my life, I would not be where I am today.

This past weekend and this coming weekend, Stephanie has been given the opportunity to play Rosemary Pilkington in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” It’s such a huge deal, and I hope that all of you can make it out to support her! Click here for tickets.

If you follow your dreams, you will never be faced with regret. Stephanie’s story shows you that if you put your mind to something and work hard, anything is possible. She really is a true talent!
