If your kids {imagine if you don’t have any yet!} were ever struck with the challenge to raise $50 for charity, what would you suggest for them to do? A lanyard sale at school? A spontaneous Tooth Fairy donation {hehe}? Well, when the Russell family was faced with this task they decided a good old fashioned bake sale would do just the trick. And with both parents being passionate cooks, they put their culinary inspired minds together and helped their kids make homemade rice krispies to sell. But, they didn’t stop with just rice cereal + marshmallows! Rummaging through their pantry, the family created new + innovative flavors to sell: mint-chocolate cookie, butter scotch sprinkle, and cherry dark chocolate. And after receiving a tremendous response from their sticky fingered + satisfied buyers, they decided to take their success to the next level. Hola!
Treat House, located on 82nd and Amsterdam, was inspired by the success of their bake sale and was created by the Russell’s {Chris + Jennifer} and Wendy Israel, a former Pastry Chef of their restaurants, Moomba and TanDa. This sweet shop {which just opened last week!} offers 12 original flavors at all times plus they have 4 additional flavors that rotate seasonally, and with every sale they make a portion is given to The Food Bank. Treat House has also been featured in countless magazines and served at the cream of the crop parties around the world. Did I mention all of their sweet treats are Kosher certified, gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free? Bonjour!
